The zocalo, or public plaza, is the center of activity for many Mexican cities and small towns. As today is Valentine’s Day, there was a boda colectiva (communal wedding) going on. Miguel told me it was a way for people who didn’t have much money to have a wedding.

Boca del Rio is a charming small city which has been engulfed by development from Veracruz. Miguel took me on a whirlwind tour my first day in town.
